Our Community

This community was created as a safe place for those of us who love a combat veteran with PTSD and know how difficult that can be.  Many times, there are resources for our loved ones but few places appreciating what we may be going through.  That can be a very lonely feeling, especially when our feelings may so often be dwarfed or ignored by the enormity of our loved one's PTSD.  We, the managers and the other members, know how much it has helped us to just be able to talk to others
who may go through similar things.

We do strive to be an online support group with the understanding that this is different from support groups in the 3D world.  There is no professional counselor in charge here - just other people who may be going through similar things.  Instead, we wish to offer each other simple compassion, friendship, understanding, a place to share feelings and perhaps opinions from our own experience.  Opinions are just opinions as none of us may truly know what it is to walk in another's shoes and what may have worked for one person may not work for another.

Like support groups in the 3D world, we may be from many different backgrounds.  Many of us are wives of Vietnam vets, but we
also have members from other wars and conflicts
(Korea, Bosnia, Desert Storm & Iraq Freedom, etc.)

Since even among vets there may be many individual issues others may not relate to, we want to be as inclusive and nonjudgmental as possible.  We may not all relate to all the posts here, but that does not necessarily make them invalid.  We are all free to post about whatever we are feeling or having problems with (within the community guidelines) and if you feel you cannot relate, we ask that you move to another post or start a new one of your own.  Our hope is to learn what we can from each other in an atmosphere of compassion for one another.  We wish to be an "arms open" community that focuses on our similarities wherever possible.

It is our hope that you will find this a safe and comfortable place of friendship and support . . . there are some very special women here.
