Our desire is to first present the neutral point of view about Elizabeth Huff's family.  According to the Ancestral File there are two people submitted as Liz's father.  They are (1) Richard Huff and (2) Leonard Huff.  In the case of Richard Huff we have no names of any children except Elizabeth.  In the case of Leonard Huff we have the names of two other children; Samuel born ca. 1750 and Leonard Jr. born ca. 1752.  We have evidence that this Samuel and this Leonard also lived in Jackson County Tennessee at the same time Elizabeth and her husband William YOUNG lived there.  We are now searching for any evidence of Richard Huff's other children

18 Nov. Update - We are now considering another possible brother to Elizabeth.  His name is Peter.  The object, at this point, is to find Peter's approximate birth year, and some possible counties of birth, marriagechildren born, owned land or died.  Charles HUFF, who originates from Salem, Marion Co., Illinois, hopes to be able to give us some help in this area, but we will certainly accept good help from anyone who has clues.

22 Jan. 2003 -
Here is what we have learned about Peter since 18Nov.  -
1- He was married to Mary Ann Toney, who was born in 1755.
2- Although he was thought to be the father of Samuel b.ca. 1750 and Leonard, b.ca.1752, we see this would be an impossibility, since that would make Mary Ann Toney their mother, which is obviously impossible.
3- However, since Peter was a "Surety" for Samuel's marriage to Sarah Hix in 1773, it makes perfect sense that Peter would be Samuel's older brother.
4-In "Lord Dunmore's war," 1774 of the Am.Revolution, Peter is a Sargent, while Samuel and Leonard were both Privates.  This also adds evidence to Peter's older brother status.
5-Elizabeth Stephens, second wife for "our" Peter (or  wife of a different Peter).
6-Peter was born in Pennsylvania before 1750.
7-Oct.1763, Peter HUFF "entered land" in Cocke Co.TN (Big Pigeon Cr.)
8- Peter had land in Henry Co.VA, 1779, 1784 & 1787 (Blackwater River)9- Peter had some land in Hampshire Co.,WVA 1784 & 1785, but appeared in Wilkes Co.GA, later in 1785.
10- Peter paid taxes in Botetourt Co.,VA in 1785 & 1786.
11-Peter was the son of John and Hannah HUFF who immigrated from Germany to Berks Co., PA.
12-The Peter HUFF, who went to Cocke Co.,TN (see #7) is a different Peter than one (or more) of the others mentioned above.
