| Poem Credit ©Sally Evans ~ Shoo-Fly Altho this peom pertains to a bunny (Shoo-Fly), the words are so true to any one of us who have had the opportunity to be blessed with a pet. It has been two years (today) since I lost my buddy...my best friend...my rock...my body guard...my wet-nosed, big-eyed, tail-wagging, beautiful King Shepherd, REX. I took a chance and saved his life, and, in return, he saved MY life...restored my faith in MYSELF, unconditionally. I showed my trust and faith in him, when nobody else would. I gave him a second chance. When I got him, he was a huge, (yet timid) scary-lookin guy, growling at anyone who had hands; had never been exposed to stairs or televisions, let alone a friendly pat on the head. Took me a LONG time to 'humanize' him...lol...but once he knew that he was loved and appreciated, I think he was hooked...lol. I have had every kind of pet imaginable in my 41 years...from turtles (Timmy and Tommy...lol) to 100 gallon fish tanks, to cat/kittens, budgies, hamsters, rabbits, puppies/dogs, etc, and, although each and every one of those 'pets' broke my heart, NO ONE has ever affected my life the way that Rex has. Duh...lol...here I am, making a frikken whole PAGE for him...lol...All I can say is that he affected my life probably just as much as I affected HIS life at the time. I like to think that, although I saved HIS life, in a way, he saved MINE as well. He came into my life when I needed him. I came into his life when he needed me. 'Nuff said. Love you and miss you, Rex Hugs and kisses, Mommy |
