Lucille,
I have no idea how it is possible for you to be worse after this
operation. You had the maximal tightening of the skin and SMAS that was
humanly possible as you had requested. There is no other operative approach
that is possible. To say that you could be worse now seems out of proportion
to the original problem.
I am very sorry that this is how you feel. I certainly don't consider the
operation or the experience a disaster. Your immediate feelings after
surgery appeared to be quite different than those now.
Dr. Eppley

Dr. Eppley:
I will be perfectly honest: I am too devastated by the results to elaborate
on how much better off I was BEFORE the surgery. I would give anything to
never have had this operation and don't know how I will live with this. I
find myself wishing I had never come out of the anesthesia.
I know you tried your best, but I have to wonder if you ever took
seriously
anything I said about the SMAS/platysma being stretched and the many other
descriptions I gave you regarding the condition of the soft tissue from
previous surgery. I can't imagine how you could not have determined the
effect your surgical strategy would have on animation and function.
I am sorry this has been a disaster for us both.. but it is MY disaster to
live with for the rest of my life and it makes my previous condition seem
like a blessing in comparison.
Lucille
