How did Baebe Nation get started?

The History of Baebe Nation

A pic of the "Baebettes" meeting up with the Baebes in late 2002 at the gig at the Y!

Baebe Nation was begun several years back under the old MSN communities name.  The community was actually started by our current member, Injie (in black and white, at the bottom of the pic above)!  Baebe Nation was begun out of need for contact with other people who enjoyed the group the Mediaeval Baebes.  Tara joined the community after finding it in a search here at MSN.  The Baebes didn't have an "official" website when Baebe Nation was begun, just a few small fan sites and the BMG Undrentide website.  It was really great to find Baebe Nation where fans of the Baebes could meet up and exchange information!

Soon after Tara joined the community she started her own group, Love's Sacred Hert, which was begun for people who love everything about the medieval period, but also inspired by the music of the Mediaeval Baebes.  After seeing her work on Love's Sacred Hert, Injie made Tara assistant manager of Baebe Nation.  Injie and Tara put together some of the group's first pages and fans exchanged current band information on the message board.

Everything was going along smoothly at Baebe Nation and Love's Sacred Hert during the summer of 2000, but soon after, Injie took a leave of absense from Baebe Nation, quite a long one actually.  Tara began having problems with the Baebe Nation site and she briefly moved it to another community entitled simply Mediaeval Baebes.  During this time Tara did a quote for Oriflamme Journal about the Mediaeval Baebes, Baebe Nation, Love's Sacred Hert, and her love of the medieval period that was printed along side an interview with the Baebes.  You can view that interview here: Baebe Interview with Oriflamme Journal.

During Tara's university years, managing Baebe Nation and Love's Sacred Hert at different locations became a little tricky so Tara made the decision to move Baebe Nation in with Love's Sacred Hert.  The two groups worked well together and the group has seen many new members since the location change.

In May of 2002, Tara missed out on her only chance to see the Baebes in concert in San Francisco because she had to make a presentation, ironically, on Medieval English literature and it's authors, but out of sympathy of that fact she was sent some gorgeous black and white photographs of Baebes, Katharine, Marie, and Teresa performing at the concert by professional photographer, Steven Gelberg: Baebe S.F. Concert Photographs.  In the summer of 2002 our member, Aria, came up with the idea have doing our own Baebe interview.  Baebe Nation members got the chance to ask their questions of the Baebes and they were answered by Baebe, Rachel Van Asch: Baebe Interview.  In July of 2002 the first Joust took place and Baebe members, Persephone and Injie sent us pictures and the programme: Joust 2002

One of our members, Nicola, a very talented musician and recorder player, figured out the recorder scores to several Baebe songs and they now find their home here: Baebe Music.  In late 2002, Baebe Nation members, now known as the "Baebettes" got the chance of a lifetime when they got their own private photo session with the Baebes at the gig at the Y!  Baebe members, Mortiana and Injie, very kindly sent us the photos here: Gig at the Y

In February 2003 Baebe Nation (Love's Sacred Hert) was added to the Mediaeval Baebes' own "offiicial" links page and we were honoured to be called "the most comprehensive fan site"!  We were also soon after added to the links page on Baebe, Rachel Van Asch's, website, Van Asch.

What's next for Baebe Nation?  With what has happened over the past years, what more could we ask for!   Baebe Nation has grown so much and in so many wonderful ways over the past years.  Really so much more then any of us expected!  Tara would like to thank everyone who has sent pictures, interviews, etc. to Baebe Nation.  It gets better with every little thing we add!  Tara would like to especially thank Injie, without whom Baebe Nation might never have gotten started!  We are so happy to be celebrating five years online this coming summer of 2005!
