Mishpachah Lev-Tsiyon is best described as a family of families. And though it has an organisational structure, it is not an organisation for itself, any more than a nuclear family is an organisation. MLT is first and foremost about relationship.
The Bible is the recorded history of nations, families and interpersonal relationships, beginning with a relationship between Yahweh and the first man, Adam. His home was a paradisaical garden and that first man lived in a perfect relationship between Yahweh and His Creation based on true love and obedience to truth. He was permitted to interact with all the angels of heaven except one, and warned that if he disobeyed this restriction that his paradise would end and he would know only sorrow, suffering and - ultimately - death.
Man was created to live in right relationship with Yahweh first and foremost, which is why Adam was not exposed to other human beings in the beginning. We too, in order to be happy, must learn about, and love, that divine spiritual relationship. Once that was in place, Yahweh-Elohim created the first family by giving Adam a wife, Eve. She was given for companionship and as an assistant in Adam's work as the primary caretaker of Eden. He was commanded to love her as his own flesh, for she was taken from his side as an extension of his own life - a life that was not his, but was likewise an extension of Yahweh-Elohim.
Just as physical life comes from physical life, so spiritual life comes from spiritual life. Man, in his essence, is a spiritual being, designed to thrive in a very particular kind of environment. Man is happiest when he is in right relationship with others - he was made a social being with social needs. He was not, however, made for any kind of social relationship, but for a very particular one. When pressed into wrong relationships, he suffers and spreads that suffering to others. Clocks were made to tell the time and to control automated machinery, but sometimes they are abused to make time bombs. When men and women enter into wrong relationships, they become walking time bombs waiting to explode.
The first human time bomb exploded about 6,000 years ago in that first paradise when Eve decided to throw caution to the wind and enter into a forbidden spiritual relationship. The result was catastrophic not only for her relationship with her husband but also with Yahweh. Everything changed as the result of a foolhardy decision to stop trusting and to disobey. Her innocence vapourised. The beauty and harmony of the original relationship collapsed into a smoldering heap of doubts, mistrust, guilt, and pain. And worst of all, the first and most important relationship of all - her connection to Elohim - was severed.
Ever since that fateful day, a massive divine repair operation has been underway. We don't know how long it took to make Eden, but in human terms it must have been a very long time. It was a very carefully constructed ecosystem of great intricacy. Like a thermonuclear device going off in a beautiful park filled with carefully arranged flower beds, the glory of Eden was suddenly incinerated, leaving the first couple to inherit a world very different from the one they first knew. From that day onwards, life became an uphill struggle.
As we get older and wiser and learn from the hard knocks of life, we can often foresee the difficulties young people will get into if they do not choose a wise path in life. Some youth listen and spare themselves unnecessary suffering but far too many do not and end up repeating the same - or worse - mistakes of their parents. But even the good and wise suffer because of the foolishness of those who will not follow good sense. Wars drag not only evil people into them but the good as well, and everyone ends up suffering. And that really is the problem with wrong relationships - because we are all a part of a family - the nation - where one part of that nation goes, all the rest are forced - one way or another - to follow too. I think everybody knows that to be true. The tragedy is that selfish people don't care. They are more than willing to drag good people down into their own misery because they will not accept responsibility for the choices they make in their lives. They refuse to admit that they are in bad relationship with others and that their actions affect everyone around them.
Man's solution to this problem is politics and social reform. He appoints governments (when they don't dictatorially assume that power themselves) to pass laws, with punishments for disobedience, to protect the majority. The problems occur, though, when the majority does not want what is godly and right, resulting in oppression and ultimately, anarchy. History is full of hundreds of examples of the failure of man-made solutions - solutions that do not include Elohim, but also those that do include 'God', but a 'God' made in man's image rather than the true Elohim, Yahweh. False religion is as evil as atheism.
Man's latest attempt to bring order out of social chaos is to join nations together. We have seen in recent history the formation of the United States as a federation and we see the Russian Federation as another. And now there is a frantic attempt to join western and central European nations into yet another Federation called the EU. These are all, however, doomed to failure, because they are governed by man, and not by Yahweh.
The European Union is the latest attempt to make a 'family of nations'. It is a noble idea but it cannot work because the principles upon which it is built are defective. For whilst it is a 'family' of sorts, it is progressively eroding the very building blocks of nationhood, the nuclear family. Man builds nations, federations of nations, and empires at his peril when he fails to build on the two cardinal principles that lead to stability and happiness: Yahweh and the nuclear family. The Bible gives us these models.
We can never return to Eden, no more than we can we can roll the clocks back to happier times in history. History moves on. We must deal with the raw elements of today, however ugly they may be. And these raw elements are not very pretty. We live in a spiritually diseased world that had deliberately rejected Yahweh and chosen to enthrone man instead. There are very few model families left, with the vast majority of people coming from dysfunctional families. Sexual abuse and incest today occur in the majority of homes. Family cohesion is a distant memory. People are living isolated lives without knowing how to properly relate to one another. Parents don't know how to be parents anymore because the state - a fictional entity at best, and an uncaring monster at worst - has assumed more and more of that rôle. Families have abrogated their rights and responsibilities to this faceless creature which, because it is not a personal entity, has assumed the proportions of a monster. People have surrendered the upbringing of their children to strangers who can never give them the kind of love that can only ever be found in a godly home.
The Bible tells us that the world is on an irreversible slide into chaos, anarchy and ultimately global totalitarianism. In spite of the hopes of good people, all the signs are present to indicate that we are heading towards something far worse than communism or fascism. We are heading towards a place where the man-made garden of Eden consists only of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil - the Tree of Death. Moreover, this Prince of Darkness, who is that Tree of Death, means to reverse all that Yahweh ever taught by making partaking of all the other trees illegal. And he means to kill those who try to do so.
We see the first signs of this in society today. Atheistic states like the USSR used to kill people for following Yahweh, and religious states (no less evil) are today murdering those who convert from their religion to other faiths.
The Christianity that the world has known over the last 2,000 years is in irreversible decline. It has already been dealt a fatal blow. It has failed to restore the original divine family order and compromised with the man-made systems around it.
The Bible began with a family - that of Adam and Eve - which multiplied into many families to form clans, tribes and nations. It will end that way. In the days of Noah there was only one godly family consisting of eight souls whom Yahweh preserved through the Great Deluge. The Bible tells us that similar conditions will prevail in the very near future, only there will be more than eight surviving souls - indeed, many thousands! This end-time family will be - and already is - a family of families where there are no longer any spiritual orphans. It will be - and already is - an emerging counter culture, small arks of refuge within a sea of darkness for those who wish, as Noah did, to escape the destructive deluge of an anarchy that will accelerate as the years roll by. While the world sits by and mocks, as it did in Noah's day, the ark of Yahweh will grow stronger and more numerous in anticipation of the sea of fire that will this time cover the world.
MLT is not, however, an apocalyptic sect hiding away in the wilderness. We believe in interacting with the world and will continue to do so until the world becomes a unified, dictatorial state, as it will do. Our business is to build family life as Yahweh intended it to be done, and as it was done in the very beginning, and as godly men and women strive to do even after the world fell.
