THE UNDERGROUND & SAFEHOUSES

Mutant X maintains several Mutant Safehouses, transition points for New Mutants attempting to enter the Underground. These safehouses are equipped with high-tech security, and are all linked to Sanctuary, in case there is a need for assistance from Mutant X. Currently, Proxy Blue is aware of only three potential Mutant Safehouses:

1. A safehouse was, at one time, located in a bookstore owned by New Mutant Ruby Bishop, however, this safehouse was discovered by the GSA, and it is likely that it is no longer operational.
2. A safehouse was located at an undisclosed location, however, as this safehouse was discovered by the GSA, it is highly unlikely that it is still operational.
3. A safehouse is located at the residence of Steven Benedict.

The Mutant Underground is a Mutant Protection Operation instigated by Mutant X. Mutants who feel that it is necessary for them to 'disappear', have the option to contact Mutant X, via a special hotline number, and request to be placed underground. As well, many of the New Mutants that come into contact with Mutant X are recommended to go into the Underground, as the GSA is generally pursuing them.

Mutants who enter the Underground use the Mutant Safehouses to ease and aid their transitions. The safehouses also act as a holding area for New Mutants while Mutant X prepares their new identities.
