Q: What do the Managers of MHM consider to be spam, and how do I report spam to the Managers?

A: Promotions are only allowed on the Promotions board.

We do have exceptions to this rule and the decision to leave certain posts is made by our best judgment.  Sometimes, we don't consider certain posts to be spam, based on the obvious intent of the poster, etc. Not all links are spam. We do our best to keep out obvious spam but leave room for our members to feel free to share a link here and there or brag when they are excited about something achieved in their group, etc. As long as the links posted are not to illegal software downloads or other inappropriate sites, if a link is posted in response to a question, it's usually okay.  We don't mind you all using the board to help locate a missing group/website. We make the final decision regarding group links posted in response to help questions and may or may not delete those, depending on the intent of the poster, etc.  Hope that explains our definition of 'spam'.

If you see spam (unsolicited links, promotions, ads) anywhere in MHM, you can alert us by email by sending the link to the post to: ManagersHelpingManagers@gmail.com or by this page (include your email addy so we can reply)

Q:  When I create a new page in my group, or change a rule in my group..   should I announce it and post a link or assume my members will see the new page eventually?

A:  Always announce new pages and other major changes to your group. Having new pages for your members to enjoy will create 'stickiness' in your group and keep them coming back for more. This will increase your activity and participation levels. Your members have the right to know when rules have been changed, so always post on the main message board if you change or add a rule. © 2004 Managers Helping Managers, all rights reserved.

Q:  Should I ask for feedback on my group/pages from my members, or create the group the way I want to and not consider their opinions or suggestions?

A:  Your members know what they want, ask them! Its sometimes hard to get that type of conversation going, but asking simply 'Hey guys, we need your opinions and feedback, what do you think of the group..  anything we should add or change that you can think of?'...  can help get their ideas flowing. Some of the best ideas will come from your Members. © 2004 Managers Helping Managers, all rights reserved.

Q:  Should I offer a place where members can post publically or send Feedback privately to me about my group?

A:  As long as you provide a way for them to contact you via email, that is enough. You don't have to have a feedback or suggestions message board. Sometimes these are great for new groups, then you can delete them later after the group is established. Actually, we had one here at MHM when we first opened and we got alot of great suggestions! We later deleted it after the group was established. © 2004 Managers Helping Managers, all rights reserved.

Q:  If a member comes up with a super idea for my group or helps alot, how do I thank them and do I have to credit them for things they contribute?

A:  Simply thank them in your group, make a really nice post and tell them you appreciate the great idea and help! If its something that becomes 'part' of your group, always give clear credit with their name, with whatever was contributed. Treat your members with respect and appreciation, always thank them when they help out. © 2004 Managers Helping Managers, all rights reserved.

Q:  If someone who previously gifted things to the group (games, pages, etc) leaves the group, do I have to remove those things? Who owns copyright to them?

A:  This can be tricky, but its important for all Managers to understand this one.  If you have a member contributing things to your group like pages, activities and other things that are 'part' of your group, make sure they understand that those things belong to your group, even if they leave the group. Make sure that what someone gives is really given to you and have them acknowledge and agree that should they leave your group, those things may stay behind. The creator can force you to remove them later if they do not give you copyright to them and permission to keep them as well. Always have the copyright of your group with the copyright of the member on the things contributed to your group. Never remove their copyright and credit, even if they leave the group. Always give credit where credit is due. © 2004 Managers Helping Managers, all rights reserved.
