| SPEAKER | The Speaker prepares a five-to-seven minute speech based on manual project objectives. Preparation is essential to success when you are the speaker. Club members learn from one another's speeches. |
| EVALUATOR | A fellow Toastmaster evaluates each speech. The purpose of the evaluation is to praise the strong points of the speech and to offer suggestions and encouragement for the areas that need improvement. |
| TIMER | The Timer helps keep us all on track. One of the lessons to be practiced in speech training is to speak within an allotted time. The Timer operates the stopwatch, signal device, and reports on the time used by the speakers, table topics participants and evaluators. |
| TABLE TOPICS MASTER | This portion of the meeting is used to ensure that each Toastmaster has an opportunity to speak at the meeting. The Topics Master prepares questions that will inspire the speakers to expound on them and give their opinions. |
| TABLE TOPICS SPEAKER | The purpose of Table Topics is to have members "think on their feet" and speak for at least one minute. The response should contain an opening, body and closing. |
| GENERAL EVALUATOR | The General Evaluator evaluates anything and everything that takes place throughout the meeting. (S)he looks for good and unacceptable examples of preparation, organization, delivery, enthusiasm, observation and general performance of duties. |
| TOASTMASTER OF THE DAY | The role of the Toastmaster of the Day is to be the "ring leader" or "master of ceremonies." The Toastmaster introduces speakers, calls for reports, provides filler material where needed and ensures that the meeting runs smoothly. |
| GRAMMARIAN / WORD MASTER | The responsibilities of the Grammarian / Word Master are: (1) To introduce new words to members to help increase our vocabulary and (2) To comment on the use of English during the course of the meeting. (3) Prepare a report for the end of the meeting of any incomplete sentences, sentences that change direction in midstream or incorrect grammar. |
| AH COUNTER / JOKE MASTER | The purpose of the Ah Counter is to keep track of pause fillers, crutches or anything that detracts from the flow of the speeches and report on them at the end of the meeting. Telling a joke is a mini-speech in itself. In Toastmasters we practice telling jokes and getting the punch line in the right place. |
