Nash County} On this 4th day of August 1866 personally appeard before me B.H. Sorsby Clerk of the County court and for said County Alfred Boddie and Chany Boddie residents of Said County both of whom were lately slaves but now emancipated and acknowledged that they have cohabitated as man and wife for Ten years.

Nash County}This is to certify that Benjamin Boddie and wife Creasy Boddie this day came before me and acknowledged themselves as man and wife and have lived ever since 1842. Given under my hand & c.

Nash County}On this 28th day of August 1866 personally appeard before me B.H. Sorsby Clerk of the County court and for said Bogue Boddie and Louisa Boddie residents of Said County both of whom were lately slaves but now emancipated and acknowledged that they have cohabitated as man and wife for Six years.

Nash County}In obedience to act passed by the Legislature of 1865 and 1866 making it the duty of colored people formerly slaves to acknowledge before the Clerk of County court or some Justice of the peace that they have been living together as man and wife. This is to certify that Geo Boddie and Silvey Boddie appeared before me B.H. Sorsby Clerk of the County court …both of whom were lately slaves but now emancipated and acknowledged that they have cohabitated as man and wife for Seven years. I therefore in accordance with the said act pronounce them legally man and wife from this date, this 4th day of May 1866.
