1950 - Daily World Newspaper: Opelousas, Louisiana Melville Man's Eye Knocked Out, Negro Is Jailed
A Melville Negro man's eye was knocked out of his head in a saloon brawl there Saturday night and Police Chief Marshall Winfiele today placed Clarence (Son Son) Allen colored, in parish jail and charged him with the assault and battery. Seymour Robinson lost the eye Winfiele said, when Allen struck him across the face with a beer bottle. The bottle broke and inflicted a deep cut through he eye and across the face. Robinson is in New Orleans Charity hospital. 1950
