G. Tolson Jones

G. Tolson Jones was the Town Clerk for many years. Then Tillie Jones and Emily Thomasson Leon. My daddy Tolson Jones moved here from St. Martinville and my mother moved here from Donaldsonville.
She worked for the telephone company and knew Mrs. Edna Phillips who also worked for the phone company. After my dad married her, we lived near Napoli's store then moved here next to the Melville High School 63 years ago in 1941. I have been in this same house for 63 years.
I graduated from MHS in 1955 and joined the Army in 1956. Mrs. Veda Lewis was teaching elementary grades. Her husband was Leroy Lewis.
Mrs. Cunningham was teaching elementary grades also along with Mrs. Gertrude Rosenburg and Ms. Angie Barbe.
Some of my family were Tillman Earl, Clyde, Tillie and Richard Jones. There are six of us; my oldest sister Lorrain who is in Australia, Rita Mae in Pittsburg, then me Gene, then Tolson Jr. who is deceased, Jess in Huntsville, Alabama and the youngest Jonna in Cedar Hills, Texas.
