OPELOUSAS - Funeral services for Mrs. Margie Lay Savage Anderson, 81, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 10, 2005, in Sibille Funeral Home Chapel of Opelousas with burial in Bellevue Memorial Park. Mr. Dirk Andrepont will conduct the services.
Mrs. Anderson, a resident of Opelousas, died at 12:10 p.m. on Wednesday, December 7, 2005 at Opelousas General Health System. She was a long time member of the Atchafalaya Presbyterian Church.
After graduating from Business College she worked for Louisiana Dept. of Highways, also for Interstate Natural Gas Co. and ended her working career working for Olin Gas & Transmission Company.
She was a native of Melville, and resided in Opelousas at her death. She enjoyed cooking and being with her family and friends.
Survivors include: her brother, Glynn Savage of Opelousas; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Anderson was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Anderson; parents, James "Jimmy" Savage and Willie Harvey Savage; two brothers, Otis H. "Sambo" Savage and James Harold "Buck" Savage.
Visiting hours will be observed from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday in the Sibille Funeral Home. On Saturday, visitation will continue from 8 a.m. until the time of services.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice or to Louisiana Baptist Children's Home, P. O. Box 4196, Monroe, LA, 71211-9986; Atchafalaya Presbyterian Church in Melville; LA Hospice & Palliative Care, 4871 I-49 S. Service Rd., Opelousas, LA 70570; or to St. Jude Hospital.
The family would like to thank the Doctors and Nurses that took care of her while she was ill in the Opelousas General. Also, would like to thank LA Hospice & Palliative Care who also did do much in helping Margie during her last days. All involved in her care taking have the family's everlasting gratitude.
