My Dad, Marshall Winfiele, was the Town Marshall of Melville when I was young. He was born and raised in Opelousas and moved to Melville in the 1920's and got a job as a cook at the old Hagen Hotel. He was working there when he met and fell in love with my Mother, Myrtis "Rowe" Winfiele. She was born and raised in Melville a half block from the Baptist Church. My Dad was a strict dad, but I always knew he loved me and wanted the best for me. He passed away in 1965 and is buried in the Methodist cemetery. My Mom is also buried in that cemetery next to him.
My Uncle Darrell Rowe is the one that used to work on radions and televisions. Leah Able Rowe is his Mother and also my Mother's Mother. My Dad was "Big Boy Winfiele". We lived in a house next door to the Baptist Church parsonage when I was young. Across the street was Aunt Harriet Able that had a son named John and a daughter named Marie. My Mother was Myrtis Rowe Winfiele. Her Mother, Leah Able, is the sister of Morgan Able, Aunt Harriet Able's husband. The Packards are decendants of these Ables.

Of all the friends I've ever met,
You're the one I won't forget.
And if I die
Before you do
I'll go to heaven
And wait for you
I'll give the angels
Back their wings
And risk the loss
Of everything
Just to prove
My friendship is true
I'm thankful to have
Family and Friends like you!

There's a house
whose rooms I know by heart
where Mother tended the garden
and I read by books
where dreams were dreamt
and memories made
where we children grew up
and my parents grew old
there's a house where life was lived
a house where I belong
in my old home town of Melville
