The Canadian Mercury Pickup Club Welcome !! This site is about the Mercury trucks that were built in Canada between 1946 and 1968 by the Ford Motor Co. of Canada.
1946 - 1968 Mercury Trucks Starting in 1946 and running through 1968, Canadian truck buyers had a choice of two nameplates on Ford trucks built in Canada. Ford trucks were sold through Canadian Ford dealers. These trucks were nearly the same as the US trucks. Almost everything on them was shared, you could only tell them apart through serial numbers and other codes. The Mercury trucks were sold through Canadian Mercury dealers only and had enough trim differences from the Ford trucks to set them apart. Virtually every Ford truck model was duplicated for Mercury dealers over the years, Rancheros, Sedan Deliveries, and even 4X4's and school bus chassis. American Fords got the all-new overhead valve V8 in 1954, the flathead V8 was replaced in 1955 in Canadian Ford and Mercury trucks. Until 1956, only V8 engines were installed in all Canadian Ford and Mercury cars and trucks.
