THE NEW CARRIAGE SHED
March 2007 saw the builders arrive to start construction of a new retaining wall and carriage shed. The shed takes the form of a two arch agricultural building, typical of those around here as I did not want it to look out of place.
This photo shows the end that the tracks will be entering, hopefully 3 roads. You can also see the new retaining wall.
Here, to the left, we can see the loco shed cum toilet/shower and the new carriage shed to the right. You can see the PNP plastic sleeper system and Cromar White steel rail on the left. This is all the track laid so far and until the builders have finished I can not lay any more.
After several weeks delay due to the very heavy rain we experienced in April and May, the builders eventually completed their work by laying weed control fabric around the building topped with stone chippings.
The small 'house' to the right is the bread oven, and behind the tree the workshop.
During the latter part of June and early part of July 2007, with help from friend Steve, we manage to do most of the painting. This was achieved just in time for our first social event when friends from Javea International Baptist Church (www.javeabaptist.org) arrived for the bi-monthly Men's Breakfast, which took place inside the new carriage shed!
