Scenes along the 1804 Corps of Discovery's route. This sequence of places follows the Corp's outbound path: North along the Mississippi River (from Trail of Tears SP in southeastern Missouri, to Confluence Point SP near Saint Louis, where the Missouri River joins the Mississippi River), West along the Missouri River (from Confluence Point SP to the National Trails Museum near Kansas City), then, Northwest along the Missouri River (past Big Lake SP), before leaving the Missouri area at what is now the Northwest corner of the state. These sites were along their route although some had not attained historical significance at that time.
