| Christian County Haunts 
Jenkins Road Sparta The road is believed to be haunted by the ghost of a farmer. The farmer died here sometime in the 70's when his tractor tipped over as he was trying to pull a stranded motorist from a ditch one winter. It is said that if you approach the road from the north heading south you can see the road and trees moving away like running water. There are also reports of strange lights that appear from nowhere and travel toward people who have stopped on the road and get out of their cars. 
Oak Grove Schoolhouse This deserted schoolhouse is believed to be haunted by the spirit of a homeless man who was killed here by bushwhackers. The story says that the man was mentally ill and took shelter at the old school. People report seeing the apparition of a smiling bald man looking out from one of the buildings windows.
Haunted Road Nixa This curvy country road is reported to be haunted by a ghost car. Supposedly this road has been the site of several auto accidents. The legend says that the ghost car appears as a new looking Model A Ford both day and night. The car will suddenly appear from thin air and run vehicles off the road by threatening to collide head on. It is said that the car will only show it’s self if there is only one vehicle within site. Some people believe that the ghostly vehicle caused the fatal 1932 car crash of a local sheriff named Frank Jones.
Ozark High School Ozark The school stage is rumored to be haunted by the ghost of a boy. The ghost is known to be somewhat of a trickster. Location: SR 14
Green Bridge Ozark Reports of the apparition of a man seen walking under and across the bridge, disembodied whispers, sounds of footsteps in the water and the sound of slamming doors.
River Side Inn Ozark Believed haunted by the ghost of a man named Howard who built the restaurant in the early 1900’s. Witnesses report seeing Howard’s apparition smoking cigars and other individuals have experienced objects being thrown about.
Beak Neck Hill Clever The road is rumored to be haunted by the specter of a headless horseman. Location: Near the Christian County / Stone County border.
Kerr Cemetery Billings This cemetery is rumored to be haunted but we have found no descriptions of the activity experienced here. Location: Kerr Rd. Hwy 14 Nixa Info posted by members hwy 14, there is also an apparition of a young man who walks down the side of the road and sometimes down the middle and always walks in the direction of the car. I ran off the road one night to avoid hitting the "young man" when I stopped he was no where to be found. Fortunately I was not hurt and neither was my car.. *posted by sizzleMissouri |
