Dallas County Haunts The Haunted Town Of Windyville This entire town is believed to be a hot spot for paranormal activity. Some say that the cause for the activity in the area could be because the town was built upon a Native American burial ground. Others believe that the town might sit upon some type of portal to the spirit world. For what ever reason this location has more then it’s fare share of alleged ghost. The town is pretty much a ghost town though there are still a few living residents about the area. At the center of the town is a cross roads, if you stop here you can pretty much see the entire town. It’s one of those blink and you’ll miss it kind of towns. We visited the town one evening about a year and half ago after reading about it in More Missouri Ghost by Joan Gilbert. It was a super of the moment road trip and all we brought along was a 35mm disposable camera. By the time we arrived it was already dark. On are way into town we passed a cemetery and stopped to take a few pictures. As we entered the town the first thing we saw was the general store and the tomato factory. We turned onto the street that crosses in front of these buildings and drove from on end of town to the other. It was kind of like4 stepping back in time. The town feels disconnected from the rest of the world. We stopped in front of the tomato factory and took a few pictures. As the camera flashed we noticed that there was several cats sitting out front of the building. It seemed to be the congregation place for every stray around town. We didn’t stay long even though the area peeked our interest because we had a long drive home. When we developed the pictures of the tomato factory we has captured a few possible orbs. We also saw about 20 to 30 tiny glowing eyes looking at the camera. It seems there where a lot more cats t6hen we had seen. They where everywhere , on the roof, in the door way, in the windows. It was just an odd sight. We are looking forward to one day going back to the location for a formal investigation. Location: Southern Missouri on Route K in Dallas County. Close to the Niangua River.
