Green County Haunts 3  Springfield National Cemetery There have been reports of apparitions, orbs and glowing headstones caught on film. History: Graves include the graves of Civil War soldiers. The following information was found on the National Park Service web site. Heroes from all wars are buried in the Springfield National Cemetery. Among them are William Freeman, a Revolutionary War soldier, and five Medal of Honor recipients, whose headstones are engraved in gold. Hundreds of Civil War soldiers killed during the Battle of Pea Ridge and Wilson’s Creek, as well as those who died in the Battle of Springfield, are buried here. Several special monuments have been erected commemorating Civil War heroes. In 1901, one of Missouri’s most distinguished sculptures was erected to honor the state’s Confederate soldiers and their leader, General Sterling Price. Location: 1702 E. Seminole St. in downtown Springfeild  Wilson Cemetery Close to Richland Reports of apparitions, voices, temperature changes, and odd smells. Location: Take St. Rd. 133 south from Richland past I-44 to where 133 dead-ends south of I- 44. Turn right onto Heartwood Rd. follow for approx. 1 mile. Before you reach the end of Hazelgreen turn south on Topaz Dr. follow for 3 miles, the cemetery will be on your left about ½ mile north of where Topaz Dr. and Hall Rd. meet.  Landers Theater Springfield Believed to be haunted by the ghost of a stagehand that committed suicide by hanging himself from some of the rigging above the stage. Supposedly his body hung above the stage for 3 performances before he was finally found. Activity includes footsteps heard on the catwalk, apparitions, feelings of being watched, lights turning off and on, etc. History: The theater was built in 1907 for live performances. In the 1920's it was used as a Vaudeville house. Later it was used to show movies and film T.V. Then in the 1060's it was once again used as a live theater.
