We need ideas for Curriculum, and Materials.
We ask participants to please participate in our Message Boards, and be part of the community. Also we ask that you add links to resourceful pages on the net regarding homeschool, and Islamic Curriculum for children. Hopefully, we will be successful in our efforts, and Islam will prevail.
Homeschooling is an important part of the Islamic Community. Many children are left out on the cold by the education system in this country. Prayers in school have been banned, children are learning to be more destructive, and many parents cannot afford to send their child to an Islamic School. Prices of an Islamic School varies from $1500-$3500 a year per child, and some parents have to choose which child gets to go, and which doesn't. The remedy for that is homeschool.
I myself will admit to not having enough to send my 5 children to an Islamic School, and as Muslims my children were having other influences that even was ruining our family life. Also, as a homeschooler everything is not peaches -n- cream. I have to buy my own educational material, I have to set a study plan for the children, and make sure that my children cover on a daily basis what needed to be covered for the day.
Many things come to mind also. Many people are against Homeschooling and against Islam, and being both sure gets difficult. When I first started homeschooling I had let all my neighbors know that i was doing it, and it was legal. Sometimes people wonder why the children in the upper apt. do not attend school, and they might get this inner urge to call DSS(BCW). That is why its important for your neighbors to know!
Now that I scared the living daylights out of you, i want to tell you that homeschool has its advantages, and as long as you do everything correct and follow your state laws regarding homeschooling you have nothing to worry about. Allah is ever merciful to his servants.
Now that we put some of this stuff out lets get to work and start on our homeschooling venture. The internet is such a wonderful resource to find teaching materials, so lets browse around and see what we need to help ourselves in this new beginning.
