MAIN STANDS?
I have seen 2 types of main stand that can fit these models, one that Andy Misuida lent me, which I have dimensions and a photo of, and the only one that came with any of my bikes, see comparison photo below.
The upper one is the version that most owners possess, and is shown in the parts book and any reports of the period. The lower one is the one that came with one of my bikes. It is definitely New Hudson, due to the same 'T' rib leg section, top cross bar and method of mounting as the other stand, but it doesn't splay out as far at the feet. They are both all bolted construction.
Personally, I think this was a special pattern made for the Bronze Wing. My reasoning is as follows:
The upper stand, when fitted to a bike, has enough splay for the foot of the stand to be visible from above, and to be hooked down by your feet, bearing in mind that the exhaust pipes/silencers are only just above on the standard bikes. The lower stand is not visible from above when fitted to a standard bike, and is bloody difficult to hook down with your foot (I know, I have it currently fitted to my standard 350).
If it were fitted to a Bronze Wing, with high level exhaust pipes/silencers, it would be much more visible/accessible.
Does anyone know different?
