Do # of DS's required, pull them off of needle. Just before closing the loop, place a clip or a couple strands of thread in the loop to form the small picot at the bottom. Shape your first row without making it curve to much, unless you want it that way. Do the SLT and pull smoothly to form shape of stitch, do not pull to tight and make a hard knot.
2nd row, Start with a small picot, I pinched just enough thread to make the small picot. Start making your next row of DS, Slide these off and once again add the clip and smooth the 2nd row by bending it back so all double stitches are facing the same way.
The first clip is needed, but if you do not want to keep adding the clips make your picots just a bit larger so they do not get lost when you close the chain.
It also helps when you do the SLT. Make it just a bit on the side of the chain rather than the very top. This helps the chains to lay nicer side by side, and the picot come out right on top.

Join to where the first clip is.
Here I pinched just were my clip was and removed the clip, so I didn't lose my small picot.
Put the needle through the small picot and reverse work, shape your second row to fit snugly with the first row.
Continue making the next row the same as second, working around for the number of rows required. As you work you will have, one clip, then two, one and two back and forth.

Before removing the clip pinch close to it before inserting the needle. All rows should be facing the same way as you work. As you practice remember to shape the rows, before you do the SLT.
