Making an ornament decorative can be fun, here are two small medallions made with the same number of picots to attach with thread to a clear or foam ball. If working with an older ball be careful if using tape to hold the piece on, it can pull the paint off the older balls. The foam balls can also be painted first if desired. Note: If making a medallion to fit on a glass ornament, make sure the center of the medallion is large enough to fit over the neck of the glass ornament.
These are made out of the medallion's. 10 rings with 9 chains, 10th chain made to make the top. The one on the right is made in similar way, making bottom chain with a ring and the top chain with a ring. Take any medallion and work around, but do not attach the last chain, bring it up and make a ring on top for the hanger. They can be hung either way. The other one was the same medallion, except the bottom and top chains were made to design the decorative shape.
These can also be made in this fashion then attached to a ornament, just make sure they all fit around the ornament.
Also they would look nice with something attached in the center of the medallion and let it dangle, beads, small ornament, crystals etc.
Adding your piece to a bulb, is a cute way to light up your Tatting. *Please make sure the piece is back on the green part of the light, NOT on the light itself. I don't think they would catch fire, but better to be safe. Plus the heat may scorch them if to near the lights. I had one that did not fit over the light, so what I did was dampen the middle and forced it over a pencil. Once dried it fit over the green part of the light ok. DO NOT try to add them while wet.
Other ways to use some of your add pieces or even your mistakes. Small medallions folded up can be placed inside tree branches, or even used to place in garlands. Also you can make so pretty ribbon out of pieces, once the bow is made glue your pieces onto the ribbon. If you have a fruit bowl, add pieces to the fruit to decorate it.
