Places in Middle Earth

 

Andruin - The great river where Isildur was killed.

Angband - The fortress of Morgoth.

Arda - The name of the western land.

Bag-End - The hobbit hole where Biblo lived.

Barrowdowns - Outside the Old Forest, it was haunted by a barrow-wight.

Brandywine - Also called Baraduin, it is a river in the Shire.

Bree - A town of men and hobbits, home to The Prancing Pony.

Dark Tower - The tower in Mordor where Sauron lived.

Dead Marshes - Marshes near Mordor where the spirits of the slain linger.

Doriath - Of old it was the realm of Thingol and Melian.

Gondolin - Another hidden city of elves.

Gondor - The realm of the Kings of Anor.

Grey Havens - The havens where elves depart from the Middle Earth into the West.

Hobbiton - The town where Frodo and Sam lived.

Ithilien - The fair land outside of Mordor where a secret outpost of Minas Trith is hidden.

Laketown - Just outside Mirkwood, it is a town of men.

Lorien - the gardens in the West.

Lothlorien - An elven land ruled by Celeborn and Galadriel.

Minas Morgul - Place where the Ringwraths lived.

Minas Trith - Formerly named Minas Anor, it is where the peoples of Gondor live.

Mirkwood - Formerly named Greenwood, it is the place of Thranduils realm

Mordor - Sauron's dark land in the east.

Moria - The old city of dwarves under the Misty Mountains.

Mount Doom - The great volcano that the one ring was foraged in.  In the heart of Mordor.

Nargothrond - The hidden city of Finrod Felagund.

Narog - The river that Nargothrond was situated on.

Numemor - A land where the elf-friends lived in sight of the West.  It sunk when the King set foot in the West.

Orthanc - The great stone tower built by Numemoriens that Saruman turned into his fortress.

Prancing Pony - An inn in Bree where the hobbits met Aragorn.

Rohan - Land where the horse riders of Rohan live.

Rivendell - Also called Imlandris, it is the house of Elrond.

Shire - The western land where hobbits live.
