Joey's Dad wants him to join his plumbing business. Joey doesn't like plumbing at all. Feeling he should have a steady income, because of Nicole, Joey agrees. He makes a deal, with his Dad. If his one - man art show fails, then he will quit his art & join his Dad in his plumbing business. Joey's Dad see's how miserable Joey is with plumbing. He goes to his art show. No one has bought any of Joey's art pieces. He buys one of Joey's art pieces. Since Joey sold one piece, he no longer has to join his Dad's plumbing business.

A beautiful woman comes into Klawicki's. Joey & Michael immediately both come onto her. Joey is shocked, when she chooses Michael over him. He is much relieved, when he soon finds out, that the girl is the Judge's engaged niece, that had one last fling, before her marriage.

Nicole is failing her art class. Joey goes to talk to her teacher. He finds out, that Nicole refused to do an assignment. She won't tell anyone why she won't do the makeup assignment, that the teacher offers her. The 2 Dad's finally figured out, that Nicole couldn't draw, very well. She was afraid, since she couldn't draw worth a darn, that Joey may not be her Dad, & she didn't want her 2 Dad's to find this out. Joey makes Nicole feel better by telling her, that his Dad can't draw either.

Nicole is trying to be very understanding with Michael's constant breaking dates with her. Michael starts feeling very guilty, & that he is a bad Dad. Joey convinces Michael to play hooky from work, so him & Nicole can spend the entire day together. It backfires, when Joey forgets to call the school & tell them Nicole is sick. They call the Judge, when they couldn't get ahold of Joey. Michael's boss comes to the house to find no Michael. Michael & Nicole walk in, with the Judge & his boss standing right in front of them, not very happy. The Judge comes to their defense, when she finds out, why they did, what they did. She told Michael's boss to go home, & spend time with his kids too.

Joey & Michael are so excited to be spending their first Christmas with Nicole. They are shocked & surprised, when she comes home from school, for her Christmas vacation, with tons of extra credit homework to do. She starts taking down all the Christmas decorations in her room. The Dad's are still wondering what is going on. They finally figure out, that even though, it is their first Christmas with Nicole, it is Nicole's first Christmas without her Mom. They soon fix the problem by giving Nicole a picture that they have of all 3 of them, from years before. They want her to know, that they aren't ever going to take her Mom's place & that they will never let her forget her Mom.

Michael's Mom comes to visit. She is constantly picking on Joey. She won't let Nicole see Cory, feeling she is too young to be seeing any boys. Finally the Dad's have had enough. They explode. Michael's Mom says she is leaving. Michael says they need to talk this out. They do. Nicole comes down in the morning, to find that her Grandma has called Cory, so they can walk to school together. Joey even makes up with her, when he agrees to take her to the airport, if she will tell him the secret ingriedient in her tuna sandwiches, that he has loved since he was young. They walk out the door, with her saying the ingriedients one by one.

Nicole is very upset when Michael has chest pains and has to go to the hospital. The ER, soon finds out, that Michael has not had a heart attack. The chest pains was caused, from Michael eating a very huge breakfast & then immediately going jogging. Nicole is still afaid, that she will lose Michael, like she did her Mom. She makes Michael promise, that he won't compete in the loft's racquetball championship. They promise & go anyway, thinking what Nicole doesn't know, won't hurt her. Nicole goes to Klawicki's. She hears all the talk about the raquetball game. She is very mad at her Dad's. They soon, make her realize, that Michael is fine, & she's not gonna lose him.

Joey's long time buddy, Malcolm O'Dell comes to town. He is a famous singer. Malcolm tells Joey, that Michael is like his mother, telling him what to do all the time. Michael tells Joey that he doesn't trust his judgement with Nicole when Malcolm is around. This makes Joey very angry. He soon changes his tune, when Joey loses Nicole at Malcolm's concert. Joey is in a panic, hoping that Nicole is back at the loft. Michael & Joey are ready to go look for Nicole, when Malcolm & Nicole walk in the door. Very angry, Joey asks where where they were. They were at a party. Joey then asks Nicole why she didn't call. She says we did call Michael. Joey turns to Michael & apoligizes. He tells Malcolm his Good Times motto is too much for him. He now has a daughter to think about.
