LAURA VICUNA PAPER RECYCLING PROJECT
I am committed in helping finish the The Laura Vicuna girls' paper recycling center in Quito. This project will allow the girls' home to become self-sufficient while giving the girls something positive and creative to do. It is "teaching them how to fish instead of handing them a fish." There is a balance of about $9,000 needed to complete the project.
SCHOOL IN GONZANAMA
This is a 500 student very poor elementary school in Gonzanama, which is 2 hours away from Loja in the southern part of Ecuador. One of the school buildings is literally falling down, as I could attest when I was there in January. The repairs for the school and various other sections of the buildings, come to $37,000 of which $5,000 has already been donated.
These two projects are being handled through Parish Twinning Program of the Americas. P.T.P.A. 100% of the donations will go directly to the project and it will be tax deductible to the donor. http://www.parishprogram.org/
ON GOING NEEDS
School supplies, vitamins, new underwear, (boys and girls), hygiene needs.
SPECIAL NEEDS
We are now collecting used VCR's to take with Kiwanis' donated Spanish Disney videos.
Also, we need lots of big duffel bags to take the aid. Most of the times the airline has box embargos. Airline miles to be traded for airline tickets.
WANTS
A laptop computer to be able to be used while traveling and to have powerpoint presentations when invited to give a talk about the orphanages.
