The Purpose of this web site.

   Why this web site? While in the early processes of reestablishing the Pacific Beach Citizens Patrol (because of the current crime wave), it was realized that an interactive community web site would be very helpful in making the effort a success. We were thinking of a place where helpful text and great images combined with a fully interactive Message Board and with other functions that neighbors in our area could be a part of.

   It was also then realized that there are a number of other organizations in our beach community that might care to be a part of such a site, even if they already have a site of their own. (It could serve as a communications coalition of many local non-profit interests and activities in our area.) They could list their objectives, some of their activities, show a picture or two, and include a name and phone number and/or a web site link, or a link to another page on this same web site, for further information.

   It would be a great place where folks could see what’s going on and maybe take part in some of the available activities. Sounds like a wonderful idea, right?

   Well, that’s what we decided to do, and here we are. And, if you like what we’re about, please do join the site and, if you’re a part of a group that would like to also be a part of it all, please do give us a call, so we can tell you all about it and help you to develop your group’s representation here.

   And what does all of this cost? Absolutely nothing. It’s a non-profit effort to make our area a better and more interesting place to live and work in. Microsoft puts some unobjectionable banner ads on the site, to pay for it, and this writer is donating his time to utilize the built-in HTML code writer to maintain the site (which, as you can see, he has established), and add submitted material and help to make it meaningful and to help to make it look good for everybody.

   And to make it even more attractive, we plan lots of colorful pages with lots of interesting things. Stay tuned. There’s lots more coming.

   There is one thing to remember, however. Naturally we won’t allow porn or other objectionable materials on the site and we also don’t want partisan politics or preaching or getting into issues that do not have any connection whatsoever with our little beach community. There are lots of other places for things like that, right?

   This is for our own neighborhood. This is our clearinghouse of ideas, images and activities for our area. And if you love what our Pacific Beach is supposed to be, it is for you, too.
