Cassi's Story I was born in August 17th 1979 to Sue and Colin Swan. I was born at North Shore Hospital in Auckland New Zealand, I was only an hour old when they packed me up and rushed me to National Womens Hospital. The specialists knew of my problems but did not know why I had these complications all at once. As I grew up we didn't know there would be one day a name for this thing I had, untill 2000 when my Genetics Councillor saw all the signs and said that I had PHACES Syndrome, the name was an acronum but as far as I was concerned it was a NAME, I finally could tell people what I had. Since finding out I have discovered there isn't much in the way of support and information for us so I went about trying to change that. Thanks to NOVA and other PHACES families, we are getting the recognition...dlowly but surely.
