DAVID AND THE GOLIATHS PROJECT I
Hello fellow Pspotsters and all other 60's Garage Rock fans, collectors, band members, & affectionados!
Over the years with The PSPOT, I've thought about how to "spread the musical word" about the underground 60's music. There are many ace people that I've come to know through the BEST DECADE IN ROCK by the website and the internet in general. "IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MUSIC" has been the primary creed at The PSPOT. How about taking the next step and bring the music to the world with the help of a building located along Southern Lake Erie? "Yeah right," ...and that is what some said about getting GONN inducted into the Iowa Rock And Roll Music Association Hall Of Fame. However, a world-wide team effort made that a reality. This "project" is the next level, but I believe that it can be done, and I know that with everyone's effort it will..........eventually
The "David And The Goliaths" project is simply this---get The National Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame & Museum in Cleveland, Ohio to create a (temporary) exhibit, like they did for 60's Psych, for 60's Garage Rock. As we know, the phenomenon is a sadly under-recognized magical moment in rock history.

I wrote to Howard Kramer (Curatorial Director) of the National RARHOF&M recently, below is the first e-mail and Howard's response is on the next page:
Hello. My name is Brian Jenkins, and I'm a charter member of the RARHOF&M. My passion, hobby, and collection revolves around Rock and Roll, namely Oldies, and more specifically the 60's. My favorite genre is 60's "underground" music (garage, psych, gum, & pop). I have had a 60's website for over 6 years called The PSPOT:
http://groups.msn.com/PSPOT
I remember and appreciated the temporary exhibit the museum had a few years ago on 60's Psych! It exposed the music to the masses and educated many people. One of the most exciting and grossly overlooked moments in rock and roll was the 60's GARAGE ROCK wave from 1964-1967. It is amazing how much awesome sound came out of the countless neighborhoods all over the world at that time!
I would like to start the "seed" and offer up the overdue suggestion that The Hall focus on setting up a temporary exhibit dedicated to 60's GARAGE ROCK. I will "spread the word" internationally via e-mail and my website to kick it in gear. I would help in any format to get it to materialize. The time is ripe, as this genre is coming back in many formats (e.g. Little Steven's Underground Garage, which the PSPOT is linked to).
Please let me know either way, and let me know where/who I should contact to continue this "David And The Goliaths" project.
Thank You
Brian Jenkins (The PSPOT curator)
