I, Barbarian Heathen, have a strong interest in Africa, the environment and animal welfare, this is reflected in the site content. Many of the views espoused are my own. You know if someone has told you a tail and later you find out they lied it hurts. Similarly you may believe something you read and later discover it wasn't true then you may be exasperated. In the old days there was the written word which was passed on, could be changed and distorted or even destroyed leaving no record except...the spoken word, this again can be twisted, mayhap in error, mayhap with intent. The speaker may or may not pass on accurately what they have been told or it may be inadvertantly distorted down the line. If it is accidental then so mote it be, if it is deliberate, for whatever reason, then that is bordering on evil and hypocrosy. How many witches would have lived a full term had this not taken place. The persecution was based on heresay and distortions, centuries of knowledge destroyed. Who can say that if many of the cures and potions had remained then modern health care, and that means all of us, may have benefited. As a child I recall poultices for sprains being far more efficacious than modern remedies of bandage and rest. Who still doesn't vigerously rub a dock leaf into a nettle sting and urininate on a jellyfish sting? As a child I was perceptive. I read my fathers left wing paper and my grandfathers right wing paper...every day. I looked into everything and formed my own opinions. I was never in a crowd, prefering solitude and inner reflection. I have always been a rebel against authority, a maverick dedicated to truth. This is why I have attempted to start this group. A search for truth and a war against the distorters of truth. I was about 10 (now 50) when I said to my dad that TV would become one of the most important tools to brainwash people in the future. That was frighteningly perceptive for a child of such tender years yet I feel I have been proven right. I have never been afraid to change my view when I feel I have been wrong. I have never been afraid to stand up to bullies and cheats and to champion the oppressed. I would willingly give my life to stand up for my beliefs, die to protect my family, pets and friends. A sacrifice given in love is not a sacrifice at all. How many people believe almost all they see/hear on TV and the more literate, what they read in other forms of media. Folk may think they are free but unless they question the validity or what they hear and see they are as much a serf to the squire of government as their ancestors may have been to the 'Lord of the Manor'. Without truth freedom will remain an illusion. If you join us please, question all. Finally, please believe I am no zealot, no xenophobe.
