Celtic Mythology
Celtic Myths were preserved through the ages in 2 main traditions. Some were recorded by Christian writers from the 7the century Ad onwards, whilst others have survived through oral folk traditions in Celtic Areas.
The earliest surviving Irish mythology is called The Book of the Dun Cow and this contains early versions of the Chuculainn sagas. It's christian writer was Maelmuri. The title derives from a 7th century AD manuscript written no cowhide by St Ciaran.
British mythology is now best known from the Mabinogion, a title given by Lady Charlotte Guest to her 1849 collection of 11 welsh tales. These are the White book of Rhydderch and the Red book of Hergest from around the 1300s.
Here I will retell versions of the popular celtic myths.
