Atrocities against the civilian population were carried out mainly by freedom fighters during the bush war which ended in 1980. Then in the early 80's genocide was carried out against the minority Ndebele/Matabele tribe,an ofshoot of the Zulu nation with between 30 and 70 thousand people murdered.

 

The Ndebele were seen as a warrior tribe and a direct threat to Mugabe so slaughter became the game!

So many times has Mugabe sought scapegoats for his stupid policies that have brought a proud country to her knees.
