I am a very keen albeit very amateur fossil hunter. I have had most of my success in Dorset (coast)and in Derbyshire (quarries) . I recently managed to collect a few in North Yorkshire (coast), does anyone else collect fossils? Do you want to swap tips, stories, near misses etc.?

My good lady is amazed at the weight of the rocks that I carry when hunting. I put it down to the adrenalin pumping through me because by golly, when I lift that rucksac next day I am also amazed at how far I have carried a weight often in excess of 30k'gees.

In Yorkshire last week I carried a slab of slate weighing 28 kg's a quarter mile from sea shore to car, I was damned if I was giving it up.
