The fur trade is gaining ground once again thanks in the main to the overpaid catwalk models whom flaunt theire sick, skeletal bodies in front of an ever fawning world media.
Centuries ago our ancestors had little choice but to wear fur and animal skins. Synthetics were unheard of. In many cases in Pagan societies the hunting and killing of a beast was a religious experience. The slaughtered animal was thanked for providing the tribe with its life. Really much as we thank a tree if we take part of it for use in magical rituals. It was not taken for granted and recognised that the animals sacrifice allowed those whom 'harvested' it to survive. This has been seen in African tribes within the last 200 years.
I cannot say that fur is not beautiful to look at and it is certainly seductively erogenous next to the skin but can we tell the difference between synthetic fur and that slahed from the carcass of a once living creature by the tanners blade?
It is far more beautiful to observe a pelt, fur or skin on a live creature (the original owner) than that draped around a human being. I have been fortunate to lay naked on simulated fur whilst making love and it feels extremely pleasant but I could not have done that had the fur been real.
What beats me is why people do not accept fake fur, what goes through their insignificant minds if they consider that the skin they wear came from a living, breathing, playing, running, feeding, breeding creature. A creature that has as much right to life as they! An animal that possessed feelings, That had bright, sparkling eyes fading to an opaque whiteness as it's life force was stolen from it. Viciously mugged of its energy, its spirit.
