Hi Al:
Could you assist by getting the word out about our event coming up? Please pump it up that it's the FIRST AMATEUR BODYSURFING EVENT AT WAIMEA BAY IN OVER 2O YEARS! We're really excited about this and would like everyone to come down and celebrate with us!
For questions regarding the "Kanaka Style Rubbah-Slippah" division, competitors must use a slipper of any shape/size for this division. Traditional handboards company or man-made will NOT be allowed. It has to be a slipper. Competitors must figure out a way to keep the slipper on their hand in order to qualify. Any lost slippers during the heat will cause for disqualification. We'll have a Men & Women Open as we can only have one KING & QUEEN OF DA RUBBAH SLIPPAH!
We will have an opening ceremony at Waimea Bay Shorebreak on Sunday, March 1st at 8am. Hui founder & KCC Professor, Tom Pohaku Stone, will be master of ceremonies. Pohaku also did the opening ceremony for Da Hui Backdoor Shootout and look what kind of surf we had! The best for any professional surfing contest this season! However, I'll ask Pohaku to tell the gods NOT to send surf that big though! Just enough for us to ride some beautiful surf with safe conditions!
Thanks Al!

Aloha HSBA Ohana & Friends,
Contact Mahina or me for more information on the First Annual Da Hui Waimea Bay Shorebreak Shootout. We definitely are in this inaugural bodysurfing event to make it a great event for everyone. There is going to be five kane division and one open wahine division. The keiki, kupuna and all in between will have a place in this wonderful contest.
Check out the originality of the Kanaka Style Rubba Slippa event! Yeah, I going need to practice with my daughter’s small slippa for this one. Remember leave those manufactured or home-made handboards home and bring an extra slippa or three for this fun kine of bodysurfing.
Mahina is not looking for big treacherous shore pounding waves for this contest. Just enough to get long kine indabarrels would be the ticket.
HSBA is a sponsor and strong supporter of this event to perpetuate our beloved ancient Hawaiian sport of bodysurfing. Please mark you calendars for the first two weekends in March for this event. The contest will happen on one of these weekends with the best waves and conditions. Please pray for good waves and conditions.
Mahalo for your continued support.
