Aloha HSBA Ohana & Friends,
The Big Island contest is on 25 Feb 06, Saturday at Waipio Valley and Expression Contest at Haupuna Beach on 26 Feb 06, Sunday.
I believe Steve is the defending Champion of this contest for the past 4 years.

PS:
The pa'ina/luau was simply awesome. Unreal aloha from all our members, local bodysurfers, visiting foriegners(Brazilians, Englishmen, Aussie, Japanese filmaker), mainlanders, Pro Photogs, North Shore Lifeguards, UH V-Ball Wahines, all our guests and couple crashers(lol).
I would like to say mahalo nui loa to all you guys and gals for making our pa'ina last night the best party I've been to so far and for giving me the perpetual HSBA award. I am so proud to be your President and promise to do my best in the coming years with the help of all members of the HSBA, my ohana and Jesus, my lord almighty.
I would like to give special thanks to my core group, you know who you are, for giving extra to make this and all our events so special to include our two Kupuna Al Santos and Sunny Kailihiwa. I want to recognize the Awai ohana (HSBA members and Kino Hawaii owners) for sharing their home for the first two annual HSBA/Kino Pa'ina. Your ohana knows how to throw a party. Also mahalo to our live musical groups. We had three: mahalo to Mike Wong for setting up the 1st, Shane for his two uncles and Sandys/Panics Bodysurfing standout and slack-key master Mike Kaawa. Our VP David displayed the many videos and photo slide shows that came from many pros and amateurs. Eileen for manning our t-shirt table the whole night, Uncle Sunny for manning the bar the whole night, the kiawe lumberjacks, imu/kalua pig and laulau crews you guys worked so hard for several days straight. Steve, you were also a champ as our MC. Mahalo to our whole HSBA memberships for all your continued support to perpetuate our belove art/sport and the HSBA vision/logo. See you all soon and may God bless you all. Al
Al Balderama al_balderama@yahoo.com 808-449-8103 President HSBA Hawaii State Bodysurfing Association Hopupu i ke kaha nalu To Be Extremely Emotionally Excited About Bodysurfing Aloha Al,
I just wanted to ask that when you send out your wrap up email for the lu'au that you might be able to mention the people -- that without them the Lu'au wouldn't have been possible (or turned out as good) :o) We really appreciated all the help and pulling together that the event creates. This of course isn't the whole list of all the wonderful people that contributed, just a few that maybe you may/may not have known about . . .
* The Ka'ahu Ohana (Aunty Brenda & Uncle Elton) Their Hawaiian Food was the best (Squid Lu'au, Lomi Lomi, Chicken Long Rice & Poke) They were there almost every step of the way. And even Brenton popped up in suprise flying back all the way from Arizona to help with the imu and clean up. * Uncle Wendell Kailihiwa & Uncle Joe (The awesome hawaiian music) * All our last minute decorators (since I wasn't prepared and didn't have things ready!) - Mrs. Balderama & Daughter :o) , Teri (Kai's Wife) & Eileen * The "Kitchen Team" - All the beautiful servers in the kitchen that helped make sure every one got some grindz * I really wanted to thank our kids for pitching in as well (like they had a choice!) * Papa Sunny the Bartender! * My Dad (Papa Chuck) & Mom (Joanne) for letting us use their 'aina to imu the pig * Steve, Lisa & Uncle Al - Who brought so much and put so much into everything. From spirit to contributions (Lights, Laulau ingredients, Da Special spices, muscle power and Aloha!) * Dave G the video man
And of course I just wanted to thank you and your family personally for your tireless efforts and contributions . . .And you better take care of the Nalu sculpture and honu, as the honu is kind of tempermental - If you don't spray him with water and put him in the sun every once and a while he will just jump off the wave sculpture on his own - and I'm not kidding.
Aloha, Julianne Our HSBA Hawaiian motto: Hopupu i ke kaha nalu To be extremely emotionally excited about bodysurfing. To bring bodysurfers together. http://www.dotphoto.com/Go.asp?l=al_balderama&P=&AID=1808020&T=1 http://www.dotphoto.com/go.asp?l=bodysurfhawaii al_balderama@yahoo.com |
