I have only been keeping poultry and pheasants and similar birds for about three years. A friend gave me about 75 red jungle fowl and things escalated from there. Now I still have at least as many jungle fowl as well as eight pairs of assorted pheasants, two francolins, three chukars, eight Mille Fleur d'Uccles, 14 Americaunas, one pair silver duckwing gamehens, one pair BBOE gamehens and of course one pair of Polish bantams which I just bought and which brought me to this board in the first place.
My son and I don't keep the birds for any reason except for our own enjoyment and to amaze visitors and friends when they see them. We did sell a few birds at auction this year only because we needed the room.                                                                                                                                                     This summer we incubated about 38 eight Ameracauna eggs and got 34 of them to hatch .Three died in the first couple of days but all the rest are thriving today. I must say that this was a very rewarding experience and I look forward to this spring when we can start again.
We are looking forward to learning more about Polish chickens, both standards and bantams.
