|  The above cockerels are owned and bred by Carol Foertsch of Pennsylvania. The featured birds live on the same farm but the lines are kept separate. The top bird is from one line and the lower bird is from another line. Even though the bird on the bottom looks smaller, he is a large fowl, as is the one on top. The picture taken was of him farther away. The White Crested Black is non bearded. Wattles, face and comb a bright red, the face smooth and without feathers. The ear lobes should be white without any dicoloration. Beak is a blue/black. Eyes are reddish bay color. Leg shanks and toes a dark slate. The body's plumage is a lustrous, greenish black. The crest is white, very large, profuse and free from splits or parting. A small amount of black in the front is allowed, but the smaller the better. The crest is as high as wide. A pancake crest is a fault. Feathers on the male crest are the shape of those on the hackle. The back is straight, wide across the shoulders tapering to the tail. The tail is very large, expanded, and carried at a 45 degree angle on the male and 40 degrees on the female. The sickles and coverts should cover the main tail feathers on the male.
