REP = Re-Entry Permit ( A departing GC may apply for REP before returning to India - It allows the GC to hold the Green card for 2 years and help him to file as Resident in USA and get higher tax exemption which is not available for Non-Resident Aliens )

STP- Systematic Transfer Plan, usually used for transfer of funds from Floating Funds to Equity Schemes at regular intervals say every week; formight or month under SIP.

SIP- Systematic Investment Plan. Facilitates investment at regular intervals. In SIP balances are infused and invested at regular intervals says every week; forthnigh or month, and thus requires number of Cheques for each investment. Whereas under STP, large balance is initially invested in Floating Fund like a bank saving a/c.

NFO - New Fund Offer; same as IPO - Initial Public Offer.

Mutual Fund Schemes - are  schemes/funds offering Equity, Sectoral Equity, Gilt, Floating, etc.

Floating Category - same as Dollar Cost Averaging (DCA) Method. Provides facilities for auto transfer & investment in any other scheme of same MF-AMC (Asset Management Company); a good alternative for NRE/NRO saving & fixed deposits (FDS) too; earns tax free interest
