The (MSN) RAF Regiment Club for Serving and Ex RAF Regiment Gunners The Royal Air Force Regiment was formed on the 1st February 1942 as a corps within the Royal Air Force. The RAF Regiment grew to 50,000 highly trained men during World War II, making up 240 anti-aircraft, infantry and armoured car Sqn's who served wherever the RAF operated. Since the formation of the RAF Regt many changes have taken place, from Regt Gunners being transfered to various Army Regt's for the D-Day landings to 100's of Sqn's beingdisbanded after WWII. But the true professionalism of all "Rock Apes" could not be ignored so the RAF Regiment continued to take on many different roles from Field Sqn's, to using Bofors,CVRT and Rapier units and back to Field Sqn's again. Not forgetting our own Airborne Sqn (2 Sqn). If you want other's to know what Sqn's you served on etc then enter your details in the "Members List 2" Thanks Gordon (Jock) McCleary & Glen (Beav) Beavis |
