Coaches at RCPFC RCPFC has a pool (pun intended) of coaches who have a wealth of experience to draw from. Here's some details on those coaches who ply their trade at RCP fencing club (in no particular order): | Alastair Russell: Alastair has been fencing at the RCP since 1993 and started coaching in 1997, beginning with Wednesday night senior class, and then taking over Thursday junior and senior's classes for three years. At the moment he runs the Wednesday night senior club and is the Clubs armourer. Alastair is nicer than he looks - honest! (well maybe) |
| | Judith Holmes: Judith is a member of the Northern Irish Senior Ladies’ Epee Squad. More recently, Judith was the Scottish Ladies Epee Champion in 2003. Judith has a BAF Intermediate award in Epee and Basic in Foil. Judith takes the junior and senior classes on Mondays and Wednesdays |
| | Mike Spiller: Mike has been taken beginners at the club on Wednesday night since forever. He balances up the cosmic karma by being an nice as Alistair is mean and as polite as Craig is abusive. |
| Donald Wisley: Donald has his basic Foil qualification from the BAF and currently waves his weapon around on most nights | | | | | | For more information on the BAF coaching sylabus, click here. Past Coaches Prof Norrie Miller:
RCP's founding Coach, he left | | | Dave Rollo: Fully versed in all three weapons, Dave has fenced for Scotland in the Commonwealth Games, and coached several other fencers to that level. |
| | Melanie Johnson: Melanie was qualified to Basic level in Foil, and took the junior foil classes on Monday and Thursday evenings. Sadly, Melanie is no longer with us. | | | Colm Doyle: Colm is a member of the Irish Senior Men’s Foil Squad and fenced for Ireland in the 5 Nations Event 2002. Colm is Qualified to intermediate BAF level in Foil and to basic level in Epee. Colm has since taken to globe-trotting, and is currently in New Zealand. |
| | Derek Robertson: Derek is qualified to intermediate level in Epee and Sabre, and basic level in Foil on the BAF syllabus. Derek was the 2002/3 Scottish Epee Champion. Another far-traveller, Derek has left RCPFC for Canada. |
| | Theo: Theo has a basic Sabre qualification from the BAF and is responsible for Craig. Theo no longer coaches at the club but deserves to be named and shamed along with all the rest of us. | | | Craig Lynch: Craig has represented Scotland at international level. We try not to show his face as it scares people away. Craig is currently not coaching due to Edinburgh Leisures pathetic policies regarding pay (DISCLAIMER - Craig's whines do not represent in whole or any part thereof the opinion of RCPFC. He's just a bit loud and annoyed) | |
