Quick Guide for Beginners

Here is a quick guide to anyone wanting to give fencing a go:

13 year old and under:
Come along to the Junior class(es) on Monday, Wednesday or Thursday

14 and 15 year old:
Come along to the Junior class(es) on Monday, Wednesday or Thursday. Speak to coaches and have a look at the people who come along for the Seniors. Depending on how comfortable you feel it would be good for you to fence in the Senior class. There are quite a few students in this age group who take part in the Senior class.

16 year old and above:
Come along to the Senior class(es) on Monday, Wednesday or Thursday. Any class will be able to take beginners.

What to do:
When you arrive at the Commonwealth Pool, pay the staff at the front desk for fencing. Just ask for directions to the class - we're not hard to find.

What to wear:
Trainers, tracksuit bottoms (not shorts / cropped trousers), and a t-shirt.

It sounds obvious but please don't come wearing shoes with any sort of high/raised heel. It's dangerous and some of the coaches are vertically challenged as it is.

Also, on shoes with wheels in them (even if you bring a pair for Craig). As cool as it may be, there are sooooo many things that could go wrong.

Any questions you still have please get in contact with the committee and they'll be happy to help.
