Even though this game is 10 years old it is still more than worthy of my time in writing a tribute to such a great game. In fact, Final Fantasy VI is considered by many Square's finest honour.
FFVI set many standards for future RPGs in many areas. Characters, Story and sheer depth are perhaps the main three. Characters that stay in your heart after playing, and a story that draws you in to a world of fantasy and depth that truly allow the player to express compassion. Put simply, it is like playing a great book that you could never put down. Something that would make you feel good inside and make you hopeful.
But what is great characters and plot without the gameplay? not a lot. Once again, FFVI delivers, the battles are fun yet challenging, with each character bringing his/her own unique patents to fights and on the field.
Hardly suprising, the graphics are well dated by todays high standards but the detail is still incredible through out. Besides, when has an RPG ever been about the graphical appeal?
FFVI's sound track is perhaps one of it's most rewarding features. The amazing composure of Uematsu (the FF series composer) is evident as it ever has been here He takes you one step closer to the fiction and characters of Final Fantasy VI.
