I am still very new at making rosaries but I have found it both challenging and relaxing already! It is a beautiful thing to do, and I'm glad I tried it and haven't given up. I'm also very glad I've met you - everyone is so friendly and helpful.

I originally decided to construct rosaries as I found it difficult to purchase a rosary other than the very basic type. The tale came out at morning tea with an elderly parishoner who gave me contact details for supplies as she is too frail to make them anymore. This was a huge breakthrough as finding crucifixes and centres was an impossibility in Australia.

I started making rosaries a little over 4 years ago. I wanted to make a special gift for my niece's First Communion and theRosary was calling me. :-) I just started making mission rosaries last year. I have quite a few ready to send out. I find making mission rosaries very relaxing after a busy day.

I like making rosaries. Started in Long Island, New York. Moved to Florida almost 2 years ago. Am involved with RCIA and teach7th Grade Pre-Confirmation at my new parish. Youngest daughters are in youth choir. I only sell rosaries once in awhile, so I have a lovely stock of nice rosaries that sit in a box. But I love giving less expensive ones away, to students, friends and send to missions.

I make all kinds of rosaries from the inexpensive mission rosaries to the most elegant chain rosaries. I started making knotted mission rosaries with children (2nd graders) about 10 years ago. I would make them for other children and teach Religious Ed classes how to make them. They are a great gift for groups going on retreat or Cursillo, etc. A few years later I learned to make the chain rosaries and just love doing that and giving them away for special events like weddings and confirmation. I teach classes in rosary making. Not too long ago, I began making beads out of rose petals.

I feel so blessed that Mary has instilled it in my heart to make rosaries and mission rosaries. I have prayed on what my place in our church could be, I have tried various ministries and a few I have stuck with. Rosary making is a natural fit for me. I love creating beautiful pieces of art work such as a nice rosary for Our Lady. They are my jewels to her and jewels for other people to pray on. If a nice looking rosary makes someone want to finally pick it up and use one, so be it. I have given away all of the rosaries I have made previously, but have prayed on a way to make mission rosaries and get them out there. My husband and I started them after seeing OLRM on the web. I knew I had do more. With the support of the K of C at our church, this is becoming a reality. My new group starts next week officially and it has over 160 people. Mother Mary is awesome!

I've been making rosaries for 5 years

This is a wonderful group to belong to. I first found your group when I googled how to make scapulars. I haven't made any yet. I started making rosaries 5 years ago with the corded mission ones, and when someone at our parish gave me supplies for mission rosaries made with pins, that opened a whole new world for me. I try to make my gift rosaries beautiful and affordable. I make just enough money to buy more beads. My husband is very supportive of this endeavor. I home school my 3 boys (16, 13 and 11) and teach others in our Catholic home school co-op to make rosaries. My 16 year old has been working on a web site for me. God bless, Penny

I have been making Rosaries and Jewelry or over 10 years as a hobby. in December of 2005, i wa preparing to make a ew Rosary for my oldest daughter, I becameaware of the need for Rosaries on the Battlefield. Being homebound from an auto accident and a huge supporter of the Military, making Rosaries for the Battlefield was a natural fit for me. My daly goal is 12 Rosaries per day. i usually do this first thing in the morning, Then work on my Rosaries and Chaplets on order. I also make Heirloom Wire Wrapped and Semi Precious Rosaries as custom work and for sale. The proceeds are used to support what my husband calls my "Soldier Habit" I plan to soon offer Rosay Making supplies and components for other Rosary Makers.

My name is Angelina, and rosary making is my hobby. I was born a cradle Catholic in a small village in the Philippines. When I started beading at the age of 7, I used sea-shells for my rosary beads. My grandfather used to scold me because I would use his fishing line cord to connect my shell rosary. Overtime, my beading hobby flourished and I attended various beading classes to further my interest. I discovered another way to make rosary by using wires to form chain rosary. My father's magnet coil wire became my new chain wires. My father could not believe that I used an engine wire copper coil to make my chain wire rosary. At 16, I moved to the city and started serious beading. In the Philippines, there is a church every corner like convenience stores in North America. This proved useful when I began selling rosaries. I learned to use real beading materials like tiger tail stringing wires, Nymo thread for Pearls and beading wires of #18, 20, 24, Sterling Silver. I also discovered the expensive gemstones, rocks and other precious minerals. I have had my share of mistakes, mismatch beads, twisted chains, broken crimps. But I kept improving and refining my techniques and abilities, I am now a 31 years old, a student of Environmental Science. After all this time, I am still beading and doing research, learning more about my faith and the rosary.

I "re-verted" to the Catholic Faith through the traditional Latin rite when pregnant with my first child. One of the first things my mom gave me when I began practicing my faith was a beautiful Swarovski crystal rosary she had purchased. I dutifully taught myself how to pray it in the car, to and from work. Funny, growing up I remember seeing a rosary in the house but never knew what it was or what it was used for. One day at Mass shortly after my reversion a young boy gave Father a handful of mission rosaries he had made. It struck me like a lightning bolt--my lifetime love of making things could be channeled into making the rosary as well as praying it! I've been hooked ever since (and have quite a supply of beads to prove it!) I started with the mission rosaries and soon it blossomed into the mission wire rosaries, custom rosaries, twine knotted rosaries, crocheted rosaries--you name it, I'll try it. I love the challenge of repairing rosaries and finding that exact match of a missing bead. It's a disease. A few years ago I began a Rosary and Scapular Makers Guild at our church outside of Denver. I sell all kinds of rosaries and rosary-related supplies (e.g. handmade rosary hangers) in order to buy mission supplies to supply the needs of our local apostolates that spread this devotion of our Lady. It has been a wonderful outlet for my habit. Now that parishioners know me as the "Rosary Lady", I am able to begin selling custom rosaries to help support my growing family. How blessed we are to have the Rosary--and to spread its devotion!
