 Dominic's Angel

(I received the following in my e-mail and thought that it was worth sharing.)

I wanted to share a story with you.  Jill may have already shared some of this with some of you, so if I'm being redundant please forgive me.  As you may know, our family suffered the loss of a young girl last weekend.  (You may have heard about it, it was the teenager who was killed last Friday evening on Abbott Drive.)

Monday night at the viewing and Rosary, my niece was holding her 2 1/2 yr old as she was viewing RoseAnn's body.  This, of course, is the first time her little boy has attended a funeral.  I'm telling you this so you can imagine the impact this story has had on everyone in my family.

The toddler's name is Dominic.  My niece said that when they reached the casket and as she was saying her prayers, Dominic said "Mama, we see a angel."  My niece was startled by his statement because she has never discussed angels with Dominic and she said as far as she knew there was no way he could have even known the word "angel", much less know how to use it appropriately.

She shared this story with all of us and (through tears) we drew much comfort from it, as we all firmly believe he really did "see a angel" and it must have been RoseAnn.

The next day, my niece was still reflecting on the magnitude of what her little boy said.  She decided then to ask him about it again and the rest of the story goes like this:

My niece: "So did you see an angel yesterday?"

Dominic: "Yeah - at the church."

My niece: "What did the angel look like?" (not using the words he/she to influence him)

Dominic:  "She was pretty..............and then the man took her away." (and then Dominic ran off to play more with his cousins.)

Please hug your babies as often as you can becuase they are definitely in touch with our loved ones who have passed on and maybe you can draw comfort knowing they can still "see" the ones that we can't.

I hope you can draw some comfort from this story as I did.
