Can you hack it ?

 

Complete the following tests to the satisfaction of the examiner

1

Hold the First Class Badge

2

Hold two of the Corresponding Junior Badges

a)

Backwoodsman, Hiker, Pioneer or Fisherman's

3

Hold two of the Corresponding Senior Badges

a)

Senior Explorer, Senior Pioneer or Senior Pathfinder

4

All Rover / Patrol members take part in the full planning and arrangements for an expedition - over (4) Days Know where and who to pass on a competent notice of the event in detail

a)

No tent's or Bivvies to be taken - All shelters to be built on site with natural materials

b)

Your Crew to take part - over (4) Days with at least (5) Five  members

c)

The complete Crew / Patrol should complete the hike together

d)

All three nights must be at different sites, shelter must be built from natural materials

e)

Minimum (60) Sixty kilometre's - Boat, Cycle, Hike or combination

f)

Must be in rough / wild country - Pennines, Cheviots, Yorkshire Moors or such like

g)

Map and Compass, show (2) Two other methods of navigation using the sun

h)

Demonstrate to the examiner ways to collect water and drink it

i)

Prepare at least (2) Two of your fires using the basic survival techniques

j)

Minimum rations - include (2) two other meals on hike (Nothing prepared in advance)

k)

Demonstrate to the examiner your understanding of outdoor First Aid

(i)

Diagnosis and treatment of Hypothermia, Compression

(ii)

Diagnosis and treat fractures, heart attacks and altitude sickness

A log from each member on hike within (28) twenty eight days

(i)

An addition to each log will be a different aspect of the hike

(ii)

Boat ref:: - River /waterway  -  Hike, cycle Ref: :- Terrain

(iii)

Include any recognisable changes to the waterways or terain over the past (5) Five years
