QUEEN DESIREE´S RUBY TIARA
HM Queen Ingrid of Denmark, born princess of Sweden.
A diamond and ruby tiara, once owned by the first Bernadotte Queen of Sweden, Queen Desideria. The tiara and its matching parure had been ordered in Paris by Jean-Baptiste Bernadotte, her husband, to be worn to the 1805 Inperial Coronation of Napoleon I.
When eventually Queen Ingrid inherited this tiara, which originally was a ´simple´ wreath, she decided to have the original tiara augmented with the addition of the twomatching frooches. So from then on the tiara had a fuller look to it than before.
After the death of Queen Ingrid, this tiara was inherited by her grandson, Crownprince Frederik. At the pre-wedding festivities his bride to be, Mary Donaldson, wore this piece.
