Welcome to the website of the Southern California Iaido Association (SCIA). The SCIA (member of the Southern California Kendo Federation (SCKF) and All United States Kendo Federation (AUSKF)) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion and preservation of Zen Nippon Kendo Renmei (ZNKR) iaido and Muso Shinden Ryu iaido through classes and seminars. Our current instructors are Takeshi Yamaguchi sensei, Ichiro Murakami sensei, Henry Asai sensei and Tetsuji Yamaguchi sensei. Visit this community often and you can view the site's content (messages, pictures, calendar, etc.) without becoming a member. As a member of this group you can receive event information via e-mail, download documents or post messages and pictures. Please use the links on the left side of this page to navigate through the website. Membership in this website is restricted and will require the manager's permission. Please provide your real, full name and reason(s) for joining the website when applying for membership or your application will be rejected. Members of the SCIA, SCKF or AUSKF will be admitted without any screening. Please identify yourself as such when applying for membership. When your membership is accepted, be sure to click on the feature that will allow you to receive any group e-mails in your inbox. If you are practicing kendo under the SCKF and AUSKF, there is no additional fee to practice iaido and join the SCIA. Otherwise, you must be registered with and pay yearly and monthly dues to any SCKF dojo. Click here for the current SCKF and AUSKF yearly membership dues. Monthly dues vary from $15 to $100 per month, depending on the dojo. Click here for the list of SCKF dojo, schedules, maps and contact information. Click here for iaido practice locations and schedules. Please contact the SCKF dojo you are interested in joining for more information on enrollment. It is encouraged that those who are not practicing kendo to do so (and vice versa), but it is not required. Please consult with the kendo dojo head instructor before beginning kendo and iaido practice simultaneously. New iaido students will be accepted according to each dojo's enrollment schedule and per the iaido head instuctor's recommendation. Visitors are welcome anytime.
