Who are We?

In the year 2003, I visited at British Judo Club in Bristol called "Bradely Stoke Special Needs Judo Club".

Judo is not just about 'able bodied' competitors. Judo can be for children with physical, intellectual or mixed disabilities. It can be modified for Special Needs Children to ENJOY!

  • Judo, like many sports have other benefits.

    Special Needs Judo provides:

    Exercise & muscle tone development.
    Bone development.
    Cardiovascular fitness.
    Social Interaction.
    Personal Development.
    Group Work.
    Improves self-esteem.
    Improves Communication skills.
    Developments Judo Skills and techniques.
    Respect towards others.
But most importantly, it is fun and recreational.

Some children have difficulties with balance, ability to remember or learn new things, and may also have cognition problems.

This doesn't mean that they cant play Judo. Most children with mixed disabilities will gain all the benefits mentioned above if given the opportunity!

"Judo is a sport consisting of throwing, grappling, and hold-downs. There is no punching, kicking, nerve attacks, or striking in Judo. The face is totally out of bounds"

"Let's Stay Focus on 'ABILITY', NOT DIABILITY".
